No Snoek Today

August 10, 2009 § Amsterdam, Umwelten

Six hours of casting the line, waiting, swapping stories and waiting again for the snoek to bite. Alas, no fish, but it was a beautiful day of being outside in the open, staring at the mercurial surface of the water, learning the tricks of the leisure fishermen and what, apparently the snoek like and don’t like (hanging around near bridges, moving bait, overcast days). John of the Amsterdam Sport Fishing Association (Amsterdamse Hengelsport Vereniging) was my guide and mentor to a previously unknown world of sport fishing.
